WHO

HydrogenOne Capital is an investment fund offering opportunities in clean hydrogen and energy storage. Two essential elements of the future energy mix. Clean hydrogen addresses renewables intermittency and is an alternative energy for heavy industries and vehicles that can’t be fully electrified. Demand has the potential to increase by over 200 times between 2019 and 2030, enabling some 6 billion tonnes of CO2 emissions to be abated each year by 2050.

CHALLENGE

In late 2020, FourthQuarter was commissioned to develop the brand for HydrogenOne. The first phase of Pilot Fishing was soon to commence to establish investor sentiment for an IPO, and a contemporary and professional brand was required that would position HydrogenOne as an innovator in investment terms and a clean energy focused business.

SOLUTION

The development of an appropriate logo was the first phase of work, which we completed at pace. A range of solutions was developed, and then refinements were made to an existing concept that involved the application of a new colour palette. From there, FourthQuarter evolved the wider look and feel of the brand and applied it to a broad set of investor communications, including presentations, a new website, flyers, factsheets and the company’s first annual report.

IMPACT

The brand and communications we developed helped HydrogenOne to build its presence, deliver a clear message and generate interest for the IPO. This was a fast-moving project, with each phase of work turned around quickly to enable the founders to deliver finely tuned messages to potential investors. Regular updates were made to the company website as the narrative on the fund expanded. HydrogenOne successfully listed on the London Stock Exchange main market on 30 July 2021, becoming the first dedicated green hydrogen fund on LSE. Over £105m was raised through a combination of cornerstone investment of £25m from Ineos Energy plus a range of institutional and retail investors.
